Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5

Would you like some Lion nuts with your beer? The biggest and baddest Tabletop Kickstarter ever.  12 Million dollars?  YEP!  Kingdom Death known for their boutique horror miniatures made a game called Monster.  The latest release is version 1.5.  19lbs. of adventuring goodness. I am one of the crazy people that bought into the game and I am extremely excited to play it.  The biggest draw for me as a hobby painter/modeller is the sheer amount of miniatures that come with the game.  You have to assemble your starting 4 and the first monster before you can even play the game.    The sculpts are so amazing and so detailed it is very intimidating to me as a novice painter not that I don't know how to paint them.  It's just that I fear I cannot do the sculpt justice. The game itself plays 1-4 players in a series of Lantern Years.  In it players will hunt quarry to harvest materials they then use in the Settlement phase.  This phase is where you will develop your town and

GKR: Heavy Hitters

It's HAPSI TIME! Have you ever watched a movie called: The Lord of the Rings, District 9, Bladerunner 2049, Ghost In the Shell, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Hobbit?  What is one thing that these films have in common besides theme? They all had special effects and props done by the wonderful folks at Weta Workshop out of New Zealand. Those crazy talented folks who named their business after a type of Grasshopper native to NZ; a Weta! What does this have to do with boardgames?  Well what do you get when you combine the talent and imagination of Weta with giant mechs pitted in arena combat?  You get Giant Killer Robots (GKR)! Weta has teamed up with boardgame manufacturer Cryptozoic Entertainment to bring GKR: Heavy Hitters.   A game for 2-4 players where you fight for your Corporate Sponsor for the right to destroy buildings and each other.  The games mechs are amazing looking; not surprising coming from the teams that brought you District 9 and Ghost in the

Week 5 Journal - Jan 29th to Feb 4th, 2018

Dear Diary.... No Painting accomplished this week :(.  Sadly my Grandma passed away at the ripe old age of 88.  Was out of town with family for the funeral.   Earlier on during the week I had been cleaning and re-organizing my game shelves.  Tackling my work space this week and hopefully will have some time to get some painting in.  I just ended up getting a whole lot of Nolzur's miniatures meant for Pathfinder.  I will use some for Gloomhaven to replace some monster standees. Anyways a peek of my Wall of Shame!
