I hope that everyone had a chance to decompress during the holidays and recharge your batteries for 2018. My Christmas was full of family stuff and I was hoping to get some more board gaming in but alas I succumbed to a nasty flu virus and was knocked out for 4 days.
When ever I am going create a painting diary post I am going to list the colours so that, if you at home someday are reading this blog you can follow along. Citadel Paints are easily found in most Gaming Stores and if you are in a large city and have a Games Workshop they would carry the full line. When I started painting I bought a lot of Citadel paints, but about 4 months in I switched over to Vallejo because it comes in a dropper bottle. Let me tell you how much easier it is to work with! Not to mention that it is a tad bit cheaper than GW where I live.
Colours Used:
Medium: Vallejo - Thinner Medium 70.524
Helmets: Citadel (Base) - Mephiston Red and Vallejo Model Color - White 70.951
Reflective Striping: Vallejo Model Color - Yellow Fluo 70.730 and Vallejo Model Color - Orange Fluo (can't find my bottle for the code sorry!)
Uniforms: Vallejo Model Color - Tan Yellow 70.912 and Citadel (Base) Macragge Blue
Anyhow before any of that happened I managed to make some progress on the miniatures for Flashpoint.
When we left each other last you saw a preview of the HAZMAT Operator:

Straps: Vallejo Model Color Panzer Series - Flat Earth 70.983
Boots and Gloves: Citadel (Base) - Abaddon Black
Primer: Vallejo Grey (not thinned)
Visors and Metals: Vallejo Model Color - Gun Metal Grey 70.863
Wash: Citadel Agrellan Earthshade
Sealant: Vallejo Matt Varnish and Vallejo Gloss Varnish
1. Wash your Miniatures in Soapy water with an old toothbrush to gently scrub them. Let them completely dry (overnight if you can wait)
2. Primer a few layers on the miniatures and let them completely dry between coats in this case there were quite a few miniatures to work with so by the time I reached the end I could start back on down the line.
3. Basecoat from the inside out. Eg.the whole body was Tan and then I added the blacks etc after.
4. To get the best out of Fluorescent paints you should base coat the area with white. Darker colors will make it look very muted as you can tell in the HAZMAT operator; where I did not know this as a newbie painter.
5. Take your time - with this many miniatures you might feel frustrated at a certain point. Clean up your brushes and come back!
I am in the process of deciding of what colors of washes I will use.
Most likely some Agrellan Earthshade which is great for Tan colored things.

Since I live in Calgary our cities Fire Fighter Suits are Tan Yellow. I just saw some generic ones on google that 3M make and went with it. The air tanks I made red because I had put out too much Mephiston Red onto my palette.
